Eve leaves her father in their countryside cottage and moves to London to study painting. At the Art school she meets a bunch of girlfriends and they start sharing their lives. Eve's father comes and goes and eventually is gone, the pain she feels is soothened by this beautiful friendship.

Helena McEwen paints with words, every moment of Eve's life is present with vivid colors in the reader's mind.



"Sometimes it's all too much, don't you think?"

"That's why people paint, Eve, why they write music or sing or make films. Because they can't stand it either"

"Don't forget the good things", she says as we cross Trafalgar Square between the huge lions.

Eve lascia il padre nel cottage di campagna e si trasferisce a Londra per studiare pittura. All'Istituto d'Arte incontra un gruppo di amiche e iniziano a condividere le loro vite.
Il padre di Eve va e viene e alla fine muore, il dolore che ella prova viene attenuato da questa bellissima amicizia.
Helena McEwen dipinge con le parole, ogni momento della vita di Eve si imprime a colori vivaci nella mente del lettore.

"A volte e' semplicemente troppo, non credi?"
"E'per questo che la gente dipinge Eve, perche' scrive musica o canta o gira dei film, perche' nemmeno gli altri riescono a sopportarlo"
"Non dimenticare le cose belle", dice, mentre attraversiamo Trafalgar Square passando in mezzo ai due leoni giganteschi.
